Frankincense (also known as olibanum) is an aromatic resin used in incense and perfumes, obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia in the family Burseracee.
The word is from old French Francencens (high-quality incense'). Frankincense is also connected with bunch of religious rituals and sacrifices, and is especially prominent in Christianity where it represents one of the three gifts offered to Jesus child.
