Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis (1875–1911) was one of the most prominent Lithuanian artists, leaving a lasting impact on both Lithuanian culture and the broader history of modern European art. A painter, composer, and writer, Čiurlionis was a true polymath whose life lasted only 35 years, yet his legacy is immense. Working at the intersection of Symbolism and Modernism, he is regarded as one of the pioneers of early abstract art.
